Program Overview 2021

Further details about the program (including participant information, such as pricing and registration) are still being determined by the Directors. There will be 3 sessions of LandSea – sessions 2 and 3 overlap so LandSea leaders will all be at GO-REC for Session 1 and then some leaders will stay at GO-REC while others travel down to Pretty Lake for session 2/3. All the leaders will come together at the end of the program for a time of celebration and cleaning gear.

  • Session 1 @ GO-REC in Traverse City (7 day program)
  • Session 2 @ GO-REC in Traverse City (7 day program)
  • Session 3 @ Pretty Lake Camp in Mattawan, near Kalamazoo (5 day program)

All sessions will be basecamp-oriented and include outdoor activities such as hiking, frisbee golf, canoeing, etc. There may be additional opportunities at GO-REC for other activities such as rock climbing, mountain biking, and backpacking while Pretty Lake Camp will include opportunities to enjoy low ropes and high ropes challenge courses. Both sites will involve outdoor living in tents or under tarps along with cooking all meals outdoors. We will be following appropriate COVID-19 protocols in order to do our best to prevent any spread of the coronavirus.

Religious observance during training and LandSea

We recognize there are times when the dates of LandSea or trip leader training may occur during major religious, spiritual, or cultural holidays and events. If you have any questions about how your religious or spiritual practice might be accommodated within the confines of the trip or training, please contact the Outdoor Programs office.
